Indicative measurement of health at a distance via the MEDDI application and the frontal camera of the main smart phone, that is, via digital photoplethysmography. This measurement is not intended for diagnosis, treatment or prevention of any illness and is mainly for personal use.

How does MEDDI BioScan work?
MEDDI BioScan is an algorithm integrated in the MEDDI application that extracts health measurements from a continuous video image of skin exposed on the surface of the human face using hardware and integrated on the phone. The image is analyzed using advanced algorithms of artificial intelligence and deep learning, including computer vision and signal processing technology. In approximately one minute, you can measure arterial tension, heart rate, heart rate variability (SDNN and/or RRi raw data), oxygen saturation, respiratory frequency, sympathetic tension, parasympathetic activity and the quotient pulso-respiración. Todos los análisis se realizán internamente.

Photoplethysmography digital
For the acquisition of data without contact, the technology of MEDDI BioScan utilizes rPPG (imágenes photopletismográficas remotes). The rPPG is a solution based on cameras for the monitoring without contact of the cardiovascular system that has demonstrated to be as precise as the traditional PPG devices. The technology used in MEDDI BioScan measures the changes in red, green and blue light reflected by the skin and quantifies the contrast between specular and diffuse reflections.

For phones with more poor frontal cameras or poor light conditions, MEDDI BioScan utilizes a backup contact solution technology. The solution based on contact acquires the PPG signal when users place their finger on the rear camera of the smartphone. MEDDI BioScan detects automatically when the conditions are not ideal for rPPG extraction without contact and suggests the use of extraction based on contact with the smartphone's main camera
